Latter-day Saints Help American Samoa Red Cross Construct New Building

Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are giving up their Saturdays and other free time to assist American Samoa Red Cross to construct a new building in Pago Pago.

The new building will be a hub for American Samoa Red Cross workers and others as they provide services to the people of the territory.

Members of Pago Pago Central and Pago Pago Mapusaga stakes of the Church have been helping with laying the foundation of the building over the last few weeks.

The construction site is across the road from the Tafuna McDonald Building, a landmark in Pago Pago.

“The American Samoa Red Cross does so much for the people of our territory and we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints want to help them, so they can help others,” Latter-day Saints' spokesman, Kalilimoku Hunt said.

“We do what we do because we are devoted to Christ, family and community.”
