Members of several faiths and other community groups came together last month in the Auckland suburb of Otara to beautify the area and strengthen friendships.
Several local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lent a hand on the day.

"Wow, what a brilliant day we all had on Saturday afternoon the 13th of July, working towards beautifying the Otara Town Centre," a participant posted on Facebook.
"It was great to see so many contractors who care, amazing community groups and passionate individuals, who all pitched in to beautify Otara. A HUGE THANK YOU to all those involved, especially City Care, Civic Contractors, Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Chairperson: Lotu Fuli and members: Dawn Trenberth and Reece Autagavaia, the Otara Business Association and also to all who generously contributed to the fresh fruit, sizzling sausages, equipment and waste removal required to make this event possible. We registered 120 volunteers, who have generously contributed 540 hours ! It is truly wonderful what can be achieved, when we all work together."
