Gathering Across the Pacific Area to Listen to Messages and Music About Jesus Christ

Latter-day Saints and others watch General Conference at home and at Church meetinghouses

Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and nations and territories of the South Pacific gathered this weekend [15-16 April] to watch sessions of the Church's April 2023 General Conference.

Melbourne man, Ivan Stratof, said, "I really liked Elder Bednar's message in talking about Enoch being slow of speech and receiving help from the Lord. My son is in Romania, learning the language as a new missionary. It has been very challenging for him, but he is receiving the same type of help."

Annan Chen, also from Melbourne, who is not yet a member of the Church and is learning about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, said, "Conference makes me feel peace."

Judith and Hank Kruizinga watched General Conference in Queensland, Australia.

Sister Kruizinga said she "liked the remarks from Elder Stevenson at the very beginning of the Conference where he invited us to give more time and reverence towards the celebration of the Easter season. He encouraged us to give the same balance towards a more Christ-centered Easter in creative new ways, as we do at Christmas and to focus on the glorious Resurrection."

She continued, "I loved the personal stories of so many speakers. We watched at home last week, and in the chapel today."

Mercedes and Brandon Swann, Australians of Fijian heritage currently living close to the Sea of Galilee in Northern Israel, watched General Conference this month in their home.

"We had a wonderful experience watching conference," Sister Swann said. "It was powerful to hear President Nelson and so many leaders talk about unity, avoiding contention, and becoming peacemakers. I feel inspired to be less judgmental of other people and more understanding of their weaknesses."
