Elder Peter F. Meurs Ministers in Tonga

Elder Peter F. Meurs of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited Tonga this past weekend.

He presided at a conference for the Nuku’alofa Tonga Malapo Stake of the Church. A stake is a group of congregations.

A new stake presidency comprising Kafoika Lautaimi, Lafaele Ngata and Pila ‘Eivoni Palaiti was called to serve.

Outside of the stake meetings, Elder Meurs met the Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga and Fatafehi Kinikinilau Lolomana‘ia Fakafānua, Lord of the Realm and the Speaker of the Tongan Legislative Assembly.

Elder Meurs also met with several Church leaders and members to express love and encouragement.

Elder Meurs traveled with Elder Wayne Maurer, Area Seventy.

Elder Sione Tuione, Area Seventy, attended the weekend’s meetings also.
