Todd Miller, from Hamilton, New Zealand, has begun his work as the volunteer communication director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Waikato region of the North Island.
Miller's previous role has been supporting his local congregation’s men’s group, and is excited for the opportunity to support leaders, members, and missionaries from the Church in the central region of the North Island in a new way. “This is much different to any church service I have done before,” he said.
“I’m very appreciative for this new opportunity to make a difference, and to help those who live in the area become more aware of the great things the Church is doing to improve people’s lives and lead them to Jesus Christ."
Born in 1974 in Whangarei, Miller is well-known for his achievements as a Waikato rugby union player and as a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, on the 1997 tour of Ireland, Wales, and England. He retired at the end of the 2004 season. Married to the former Suzanne Brocas, they are the parents of four children.
Miller is replacing long-time communication director Vicki Lee Wihongi, who served in this position for over a decade. During her time in the position, Wihongi hosted Church leaders, coordinated activities such as the annual Temple Lights event, and assisted with inter-faith and other community activities throughout the Waikato area. She most recently coordinated communications for the public open house of the recently rededicated Hamilton New Zealand Temple.
