Australian Couple Prepare for Missionary Service in Africa

Sydney couple, Stephen and Rosely Webster, are travelling to Africa next month to begin 18 months’ service as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Their missionary assignments will include supporting Church leaders, teaching, training and providing other assistance to the people of West Africa.

There are 230,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Africa West Area, in over 700 congregations.

For the last five years the couple have served in a volunteer capacity as national directors of public affairs for the Church. This has been in addition to their busy family and work lives.

Australian Latter-day Saint leader, Elder Jeffrey D. Cummings, says the Websters have been “outstanding” as Church representatives and public affairs leaders in Australia.

"Stephen & Rosely have served faithfully for many years and have been instrumental, along with our public affairs volunteers throughout the country, in developing relationships with our friends in other faiths and helping the Church be seen for what it really is.”

“They were the driving force behind the Church's support of many community efforts, such as the annual ‘Pollie Pedal’ charity ride. They have introduced many governmental, faith and other community leaders to the Church,” Elder Cummings said.

“I know they will bring excellent skills, energy and commitment to their missionary service in Africa that will bless individuals, families and communities.”
