Missionaries Teach English Classes in Marshall Islands Catholic School

Young men and women serving full-time missions with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ebeye, Republic of Marshall Islands have volunteered their services to teach English classes for the Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School.

Knowing that the school needed English teachers for their students, John F. Larkin, president of the Marshall Islands Majuro Mission met with school officials and arranged for eight missionaries to come every Thursday morning as a service to the school.

The school and staff were enthusiastic about the proposed effort and invited parents of the students to come and see the young missionaries in action.

According to President Larkin, the parents recognise the value of the service being provided to their children and are pleased with the lessons being taught.

Along with English grammar, the missionaries read and sing with the children.

Noland Debrum, principal of the school is delighted with the additional help and support, but perhaps the best endorsement of all is the children’s smiles and handshakes that tell of their brimming excitement as they spend time with missionaries from far away countries.
