Brigham Young University—Hawaii Concert Choir comes to Auckland

The Brigham Young University—Hawaii Concert Choir thrilled an audience of around 400 people at Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral on Saturday June 1.

Led by conductor Michael K. Belnap and accompanied by Stacy McCarrey and Scott McCarrey, the choir performed for close to two hours to members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Earlier in the day the students took the opportunity to serve the people of Auckland by assembling 100 personal care packages for individuals going through tough times.

During a break in the concert, James Walker, president of the New Zealand Auckland Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presented one of the packages to a representative of the Auckland City Mission, promising that all of the packs would be delivered shortly.

The Brigham Young University—Hawaii Concert Choir is a select group of students, both music majors and non-music majors alike, from various countries all over the world. Both in membership and repertoire, the choir reflects the ethnic diversity and excellence of BYU—Hawaii.

The choir has also performed in Kerikeri (last Thursday), and next stops are Hamilton, Hastings, Wellington and then Tahiti.

The South Pacific tour, called "Voyages of Light," is celebrating the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the first missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to this part of the world.
