VIDEO: Porirua Community Prepares for COVID Vaccinations

Latter-day Saint volunteers support efforts to protect individuals, families and communities

Luana Penese, clinical health lead and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shares why COVID vaccinations are important to her.

"I love my community," Penese says.  "I have a mother who is 83, who served 11 temple missions. It gives me peace of mind [to] ...know that she has been immunised and she will be ok."

On Saturday, 14 August 2021, a COVID vaccine  'Festival Day' will be held at the Church's meetinghouse located at 88 Drivers Crescent, Porirua, from 10am - 5pm.

Penese's plea is for people to use opportunites like the free vaccinations to "protect ourselves, our family and our community."

The Church is partnering with the Capital and Coast District Health Board, the Hutt Valley District Health Board, the Ora Toa Public Health Organisation, and the Ministry for Pacific Peoples to provide COVID vaccinations.
