Reflections of the Hamilton New Zealand Temple in the lives of an American family

As the people of New Zealand are anxiously awaiting the re-dedication of the Hamilton New Zealand Temple, one American family reflects on the influence the Hamilton Temple has had on their lives.

Barbara Keep’s life was changed when her father was called on a labour mission to Australia and New Zealand. After moving across the world and finishing high school in a different country, she fell in love with the people and culture of New Zealand. When her boyfriend got out of the Navy, he met her in New Zealand and they were married in the Hamilton Temple.

Over 60 years later, Brigham Young University student and Pacific communication intern, Cassidy Wixom, tells the story, through video, of her grandmother’s experiences in New Zealand and the blessings the temple has brought to her life.

The Hamilton New Zealand Temple had been closed for four years for renovations and delays from Covid-19. It will be rededicated by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 16.

All are invited to a public open house to tour the temple beginning Friday 26 August 2022. The open house runs through Saturday 17 September 2022, except for Sundays.
