In a remarkable display of unity and faith, nearly 1,000 youth from three island nations and speaking three different languages gathered in Vanuatu for FSY, a “For the Strength of Youth” activity.
Young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joyfully traveled from Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, and the outer islands of Vanuatu to convene in Port Vila, Vanuatu for the country's first FSY event.
This extraordinary gathering, supported by dedicated young adult counselors and organized by Pauline Daniel, a recently returned missionary, fostered a spirit of faith, excitement, and commitment to Jesus Christ.
Pauline observed, “This is the first time Vanuatu has had an FSY, and you can see the smiles on their faces in the classes and activities. This event has helped them meet and make new friends and to open up and communicate with each other. It has also strengthened their faith in our Saviour.”
Briedley, a youth from Solmon Islands said, “I learned this week that if you focus on Christ and read your scriptures and say prayers that your heart will change and as you look upward, He will bless you and change you and life will be easier.”
Throughout the event, nearly 1,000 youth shared meals, sang, danced, cheered, and felt the Spirit of God as they focused on becoming a disciple of Christ. The atmosphere was filled with friendship and a strong commitment to the gospel, highlighted by the kindness and goodness of all participants. This inaugural event significantly strengthened the future generations of the Church in the Pacific Islands.
