Three Local Young Latter-day Saints Share ‘Book of Mormon Voices’ Online

In light of a certain Broadway musical currently playing in Auckland, three young local Latter-day Saints are doing what they can to help New Zealanders understand what the real Book of Mormon is, through home-grown videos and other content.

Mau Melligan, AJ Shepherd and Thomas Madrigal are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The three young men have had their own personal experiences with the Book of Mormon and are now helping others share their experiences as well.

The Facebook page they created, Book of Mormon Voices, aims to provide New Zealanders with “local and authentic stories and experiences around reading and applying things learned from the book,” Madrigal said.

“We have nothing against the musical or those on stage, or those who go see it,” he added. “We just see this as an amazing opportunity for New Zealanders to understand what the actual Book of Mormon is, and also to know that real missionaries with the Church are smart, kind, humble and focused on helping others.”

Madrigal said that real Latter-day Saint missionaries give up 18 to 24 months of their young lives “because they love God, they love Jesus Christ, and they love people.”
