Solomon Islands Teenagers Gather for Historic Youth Conference

Focus on faith, fun and friendship

Youth from all five branches of the Solomon Islands District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered in July for the Church’s first ever youth conference in the country.

Amongst the 130 youth were 19 friends from other faiths. The teens gathered for three days of learning, community service, fellowship, and good food.

A highlight of the conference was the dinner dance held on Friday evening, July 12, with candle lit tables, following a service project in the local community.

The next morning they met at the beach for breakfast and group games.

The three day conference concluded Sunday, July 14, with a youth devotional.

"I believe [the youth] learned a lot of the gospel of Jesus Christ through those lessons and activities,” according to the Church’s national director of public affairs, Fagal Ramosala.

“Our Heavenly Father blessed us with pleasant weather and leaders that helped [with] the conference."
