Samoa Braces for Cyclone Evan

Members and missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa are preparing for Tropical Cyclone Evan which is expected to make landfall near Apia later today.

According to the Samoa Meteorological Service the cyclone was 60 nautical miles west of Apia at 2.00am today [13 December 2012].

The Church’s Samoa Apia Mission President, Johnny Leota, says that all missionaries including senior couples are aware of the cyclone and are preparing for its arrival.

Church Service Centre Manager, Hatu Tiakia, is working with staff and Church leaders throughout Samoa to assist Latter-day Saints and others to prepare for the cyclone.
