President Macron’s ‘Real’ Mormons of French Polynesia

A group of young political advisors were dubbed “Macron’s Mormons” during his rise to the presidency of France.

They were not actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but the nickname was applied because they were bright, loyal and hard working.

During Mr Macron’s visit to the South Pacific in the coming days, given that 1 in 10 French Polynesians is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there is a good chance he might meet some real members of the Church.

Across the South Pacific region there are over half a million Latter-day Saints.

In some countries, such as Samoa and Tonga, one third of their populations, or higher, are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
