Pacific Saints Rejoice After Salt Lake Temple Open House Announcement

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the Pacific area have expressed deep gratitude and excitement following the announcement of the Salt Lake Temple open house dates. The Salt Lake Temple open house will take place from April to October 2027.

The Salt Lake Temple has been closed since the end of 2019 for seismic upgrades and renovations. For many, this sacred building holds special significance.

Narii Pou, from French Polynesia, recalls his first spiritual experience inside the Salt Lake Temple in August 2019.

"I did not expect it to last eight long years. When the news arrived, I realized how much I had been blessed to experience and feel God’s love by serving Him in the Lord’s house. It felt like home," he shared. "As we received the news directly from President Nelson about the reopening, I got so excited. I am actually planning to visit it during the open house."

Kristel Cao, from Punaauia, Tahiti, observed how the announcement has resonated within her community, with many people responding with joy.

"Following the announcement of the open house for the Salt Lake Temple, I saw many people sharing the news and tagging their families and friends.”

For David Harper from Sydney, Australia, the Salt Lake Temple holds a lifetime of memories. He and his family have been blessed to visit the temple multiple times and are already planning a trip from Sydney to attend the open house in August 2027.

"Temples are so special to us—we were married for time and all eternity in the Sydney Temple in November 1984. We've been blessed to give service in many temples, and we are so looking forward to the Salt Lake Temple Open House."

The open house will allow visitors to explore the renovated Salt Lake Temple and learn about its history, purpose, and preservation efforts. More details about the open house schedule and public tours will be made available closer to the event.
