Dean Westerlund, president of the Auckland Panmure Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined with other New Zealand faith, community and government leaders recently to create a video produced by the nation's Ministry for Pacific Peoples.
The video includes messages of faith, hope and encouragement from a number of individuals representing several parts of society, including a special message from the Hon. Aupito William Sio, Minister for Pacific Peoples.
The video is being broadcast on national television as well as on Facebook.
The text of President Westerlund's message follows:
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aotearoa New Zealand are very grateful to all essential workers who have been leading, feeding, and protecting us, as well as caring for our health. We thank you, we love you, we need you.
Serving one another, regardless of our faith, is one way we can seek to hear the voice of God, personally, in our own lives. God knows us, loves us and wants to speak to us and help us.
We can worship, study scripture, sing, pray and strengthen one another in our homes, our community church buildings, and even online.
Moving forward, in uncertain times, as we strive to be close to Heaven and to each other, we will hear and feel the Lord speaking peace to our souls, and gentle guidance to our minds.
