New Pacific Area Seventies (regional leaders) were announced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this week.
The four, sustained at the annual leadership session of The Church’s April 2024 general conference on 4 April, are Philip J. Barton, Bangor, Australia; Denny Fa’alogo, Apia, Samoa; Georgie E. Guidi, Dumbea, New Caledonia; and John R. Higgins, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Releases were announced for the following Area Seventies: Glenn Burgess, Auckland, New Zealand; Sapele Fa’alogo Jr., Apia, Samoa; and Robert Gordon, Brisbane, Australia.
Barton, 42, is the chief customer officer, of First Focus. He was recently released as stake president of the Sydney Australia Mortdale Stake and is a former bishop and stake president. He and his wife, Kieryn, have four children.
Fa’alogo, 53, is a real estate project manager of The Church’s Meetinghouse Facilities Department, and at the time of his call was serving as young single adult advisor of the Navu 1st Ward. A former bishop and stake presidency counselor, he and his wife, Alexandra, are the parents of three children.
Guidi, 56, is chargé d’affaires of ASSYSTEM, and was serving as a technology specialist in the Noumea New Caledonia Stake at the time of his calling. A former counselor in a branch presidency, high councilor and stake president, he and his wife, Rachel, have three children.
Higgins, 63, was released in December 2023 as the executive secretary to the Presidency of the Pacific Area. A former bishop, high councilor, mission presidency counselor, mission president, stake presidency counselor and stake president, he and his wife, Naomi, are the parents of six children.
