Over 100 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who attend a congregation in Takapuna organized for single adults to worship together, took to social media yesterday to invite friends and family to join them for a special semi-annual event: General Conference.
General Conference is the worldwide broadcast held twice a year, in April and October, when Church members and friends gather at the Church’s meetinghouses or go online at LDS.org to see, hear and feel inspiring messages from Church leaders, many of whom are apostles and prophets –special witnesses of Jesus Christ.
The young Aucklanders were inspired by Church leaders to share the gift of General Conference.
"No other messages are more important for people and families of the world than those that will be heard, seen and felt at General Conference," according to Elder O. Vincent Haleck, Pacific Area President of the Church.
Social media platforms were flooded with their personal videos, memes and posts.

Some are spiritual in tone, others sprinkled with humour, yet all are heartfelt invitations to come and see the happiness they feel in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the blessing of learning from inspired leaders who can give essential guidance in an increasingly difficult and troubling world.
Tum Puhi, who says the gospel of Jesus Christ has rescued him and transformed his life, was one who extended an invitation to his friends and family via a video post on Facebook.
“If you are looking for spiritual nourishment or just looking for answers to life, I highly recommend, with all my heart, that you tune-in to LDS.org. It will help you.”
In her video invitation Kasia Cook shared with her friends: “One of the ways I receive answers in my life is through General Conference. I know we have living prophets on the earth today and I know through the Spirit we can receive answers to what we need to do in our life, and we can receive peace as well.”
Sessions of General Conference can be enjoyed with others at any meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, 8 October at 10 am and 2 pm, and on Sunday, 9 October at 10 am and 2 pm. All are welcome.
