'Mormon Helping Hands' Volunteers to Clean New Zealand's Far North Beaches

"Far North beaches are set for a clean-up thanks to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons)," New Zealand's Far North District Council announced this week.

The council's media release continued: "Church members will be clearing rubbish from many of the District’s most popular swimming beaches on Saturday 28 February as part of the church’s Helping Hands programme.

"These beaches include Taipa, Cable Bay, Coopers Beach, Paihia, Waitangi, Te Haumi, Matauri Bay, Wainui, Te Ngaere Bay, Koutu, Pakanae, Opononi and Omapere."

"The Far North District Council will provide rubbish bags for the clean-up and remove rubbish the members collect. Church public affairs person Arta Harris says Helping Hands is an annual event in Northland."
