On 15 September, missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and community volunteers participated in the kick-off of the nationwide Conservation Week in Wellington and Porirua, New Zealand.
The Department of Conservation in New Zealand works with volunteers across the country to spread the conservation message and encourage citizen participation.
The Wellington Helping Hands group from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints participated in the Karori Stream Clean-Up and planted 500 trees, which will be a legacy to future generations.
In Porirua, missionaries worked to clean up the Kahotea Stream, by tackling the invasive weeds growing on the banks.
Newman N. Solo’ai, president of the Wellington, New Zealand Mission said, “As full-time missionaries, we are ‘ready and willing’ to assist in local community service projects.”
