New Zealand’s Furniture For Schools Charitable Trust and LDS Charities, the welfare arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently partnered to facilitate the delivery and donation of a 20 foot container containing recycled tables, chairs and books to Lomaivuna High School in the island's interior.
Furniture and books were donated by schools in New Zealand and will supply the library, computer lab and five classrooms at the high school.
Schools in New Zealand are invited to donate usable furniture to be distributed to schools throughout the Pacific area.
LDS Charities facilitates the shipping and delivery of donated furniture and books from Auckland to the final destination. Private companies assist in collecting the furniture from the different schools.
Callam Blair, representing Furniture for Schools commented “The school was over the moon with the contents, especially the large number of books that were donated.”
Representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and administrative leaders from the high school took part in the handover ceremony.
