Leaders, staff and missionaries from the Pacific Area Administration Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints put on gumboots and outdoor working clothes this week to lend a hand at Shakespear Regional Park, north of Auckland.
The volunteers planted hundreds of trees to help staff revegetate a portion of the park.
Elder Jeremy R. Jaggi, a member of the Church’s Pacific Area Presidency, joined the volunteers, along with his wife Amy and their daughter Eliza.
“Our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, created this beautiful world for us—to sustain life and bring us joy. Gathering together as brothers and sisters to take care of Their creations deepens our love and appreciation for our God, our Saviour, our world and each other,” Elder Jaggi said.
Volunteers also packed food boxes and sorted donated clothing at Auckland City Mission.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ believe that serving our communities and caring for our environment are ways to obey what Jesus Christ taught are the two great commandments to love God and love our neighbours.
Leaders, staff, and missionaries at the Church’s Pacific Area Administration Office in Auckland support the ecclesiastical, building construction and maintenance work, humanitarian projects, and other work of the Church throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the island nations and territories of the South Pacific.
There are approximately 580,000 Latter-day Saints in the Pacific Area.
