This month members and guests of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Tonga Nuku’alofa Mission.
Activities include the dedication of a monument to memorialise the landing of the first Latter-day Saint missionaries (8 August), a cultural presentation at the Royal Palace (9 August), a youth cultural event at Teufaiva Stadium (10 August), a luncheon (11 August), a ball (12 August) and a devotional (14 August).
“We are very grateful to have reached this significant milestone,” said Church leader, Elder Aisake Tukuafu.
“As Tongan Latter-day Saints, we love our country, our Royal Family, our friends in other faiths, and our fellow church members. Our goal is to love, serve and strengthen individuals, families and communities by doing what Jesus Christ has shown and taught.”
