Latter-day Saints Around the Pacific: February 2025

Pacific Newsroom features stories from around the Pacific to show what the members and leaders are doing to bless and serve their communities. This month we featured the following stories from Vanuatu, Samoa, and villages across the South Pacific.

Clean Water Brings Joy to Vanuatu Villagers

For many people throughout the South Pacific, accessing clean water is a daily challenge that significantly impacts their quality of life. Recognising this need, The Church recently focused on helping residents in four villages on the Vanuatu island of Tanna.

The Church, in cooperation with Vanuatu Agricultural Supply, engaged with community leaders to identify the need of a clean water supply.  Prior to the completion of the project, some of the villagers were walking kilometres a day to carry water back for cooking, cleaning and bathing children. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the South Pacific in Environmentally Sustainable Ways

Across the cities, towns, and villages of the South Pacific, The Church is embracing innovative solutions to support both spiritual and temporal well-being.

By incorporating environmentally sustainable construction and maintenance practices into new meetinghouses, the Church is not only providing sacred spaces for members to worship, it’s also safeguarding and generating vital resources of fresh water and solar power, blessing entire communities.

The Church’s commitment to sustainability aligns with its belief in stewardship, or sacred responsibility, over the earth. Bishop Gérald Caussé, Presiding Bishop of the Church, emphasized this principle, stating, “How can we honor and love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ without honoring and loving Their creations?” Click here to read more.
