Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Neiafu, the capital city of Vava'u, one of the islands of Tonga, gave community service recently.
Local Church leader, President Lutofiko Saipa'ia, said, "We were happy to see the enthuisiasm and willingness of our members, together with Neiafu town officers and community members serving others through their work."
He said the service of the members and others in the community was consentrated on frequently visited public areas, such as the Prince Wellington Ngu Vava'u Hospital and other parts of the capital.
Neiafu town officer, Vava Lapota, expressed his gratitude towards the members for their hard work.
"It has been splendid to be working together with you; what a wonderful work you all did," he said.
"It couldn't come at a better time as we prepare for constituency visits headed by Governor Lord Fakatulolo and his team to promote a clean Vava'u."
Community members that live next to the areas and homes that were cleaned expressed how happy they were with the service project because they were able to participate.
