Assessment of community needs in consultation with governments and NGOs continues

Latter-day Saint Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has provided tents, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, chain saws and rope to communities in Vanuatu following Cyclone Harold, which impacted several Pacific islands earlier this month.

Church representatives continue to assess needs, in consultation with national disaster management offices in both Vanuatu and Fiji.

COVID-19-related restrictions have slowed down the processes of evaluating needs and getting supplies to where they are needed.

Latter-day Saint Charities representatives have been in active communication with government offices and NGO partners such as ADRA and Red Cross to express a desire to assist where needed.

Local Latter-day Saint leaders have been assisting families and individuals with food and other support in the hardest hit areas.
