Initiative Aims to Encourage Daily Acts of Kindness Throughout Christmas Season

#LIGHTtheWORLD to launch in New Zealand on 1 December

Leaders and guests of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will meet in Auckland on 1 December to launch this year’s #LIGHTtheWORLD Christmas service initiative.

The aim of the initiative is to invite individuals, families, congregations and other groups to follow the example of Jesus Christ and share His light "in 25 ways, over 25 days" through service this Christmas season.

Starting 24 November, this year’s #LIGHTtheWORLD video and other resources will be available on mormon.org.

In addition to a new global #LIGHTtheWORLD video, videos featuring Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Islands faces and places will also be available for viewing and sharing.

A service advent calendar has been prepared with ideas for daily acts of kindness included.

The 1 December launch event will include a $25,000 donation to Auckland based charities to help them continue their great work in serving the community.

Watch a fun video featuring New Zealand's own Dame Valerie Adams and Church leader Elder S. Gifford Nielsen talking about last year's #LIGHTtheWORLD Christmas initiative.
