Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Macarthur area of Sydney, Australia have a long history of working with local charity groups to enhance the quality of life of individuals in their communities.

They recently expanded their efforts by reaching out to a local Member of Parliament and non-profit organisations.

Local leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ in Macarthur met with Mr. Greg Warren, Member of Parliament for Campbelltown, to discuss the value of family, community service, and self-reliance.

The discussion ranged from the challenges that many individuals have been facing due to COVID-1, to rising living expenses. They also shared their sentiments on how the faith-based community contributes to relieving emotional hardship and providing support.

Lawrence Sasulu, a Latter-day Saint leader, said to Mr. Warren that the Church of Jesus Christ teaches its members that serving others regardless of their race, religion, gender or ethnicity is a mark of Christianity. He introduced Mr. Warren to JustServe.org, a free service sponsored by the Church that links community volunteer needs with volunteers.

Mr. Warren expressed his appreciation for the local non-profit organisations and volunteers that often provide aid in areas where other organisations cannot reach.

Following the meeting, Mr Peni Fonua, a Church Communication representative, visited charity organisations in the Macarthur area to offer JustServe.org as a tool to help them connect with volunteers. This included Shining Stars Foundation, We Are Community, and Lomandra Community Project.

Mr Fonua said, "As we work with others in the community, we learn from each other and build lasting friendships."
