As a lay leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christchurch, Pitama serves as president of the Relief Society organisation, devoted to the welfare and well-being of women and families both in the Church and wider community.
Pitama has been leading the charge to make COVID vaccinations available to the community at her local place of worship.
