Professor Suzanne Pitama has made history as the first Māori woman to be appointed as dean of the Otago University Medical School campus in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Pitama is excited about future opportunities for "huge health reforms," reports John Lewis, Otago Daily Times. See the article here.
As a lay leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christchurch, Pitama serves as president of the Relief Society organisation, devoted to the welfare and well-being of women and families both in the Church and wider community.
Pitama has been leading the charge to make COVID vaccinations available to the community at her local place of worship.
