Elder and Sister Yamashita Bring Messages of Love and Hope to Fiji Latter-day Saints

Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita, second counselor in the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had encouraging words for the people in the Nausori Fiji Stake on Sunday 15 September.

The message from Elder Yamashita was directed to the children, ranging from ages three to eleven years old. He asked the children to listen carefully as he related a story.

The story he shared was about some sheep flocked together. The sheep heard the howling of a wolf which always brings fear. One among the sheep had the courage to challenge the wolf. That sheep was actually a lion!

Elder Yamashita asked everyone to live up to who they really are.

"You're a lion, not a sheep," he said. "Be strong and know who you are!"

Elder Yamishita shared a personal story about a family member and the power of prayer, love and patience.

Regardless of the choices of loved ones, his message was one of hope, that "all will be well for those that trust in the Lord."

Sister Tazuko Yamashita spoke to the congregation about her 95-year-old father who recently joined the Church.

She said this was a wonderful blessing for her family and came after many years of hoping, praying and loving.
