Bishop W. Christopher Waddell of the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spoke to members and friends of the Church at the Suva Fiji North Stake Conference on Sunday 15 September.
Bishop Waddell, who was accompanied by his wife, Sister Carol Waddell, spoke to conference attendees about the various roles of the Church’s Presiding Bishopric, including finding locations for new temples, watching over Church finances, and providing Church resources such as manuals and magazines.
He encouraged Church members, as individuals and families, to be fully engaged in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He said that participating in regular gospel study, Sabbath Day observance each week, and temple worship as often as possible, help individuals stay close to the Lord.
Bishop Waddell said that none of these activities would be enough, however, without the influence and blessings of Jesus Christ in our lives.
“Christ knows us like no-one else knows us,” he said.
“Because of Jesus Christ, everything is possible.”
Speaking after te conference, Fiji Latter-day Saint, Siteri Saurara, said she wants to "stay true and faithful, and attend the temple regularly."
"Without the Saviour Jesus Christ, nothing would be possible."
She added that she wants to "continue to live the gospel more diligently, and seek to know God more deeply."
Frank Vatubai said he felt inspired by the messages given, in particular the importance of preparing each week to honour the Sabbath.
