Elder and Sister Yamashita Meet Virtually with Australian and New Zealander Single Members of the Church

They encourage all to share the gospel, do family history research, and worship in the temple

On Sunday 18 July, 2021, Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita, Counsellor in the Pacific Area Presidency, and Sister Tazuko Yamashita, and Elder Damon Page, of the Seventy, spoke to single adults in Australia and New Zealand in a live Devotional broadcast.

The devotional was hosted by the Melbourne Australia Gippsland Stake and Elder and Sister Yamashita joined from a meetinghouse in Auckland.

The topic of the devotional was "gathering Israel on both sides of the veil," a phrase used by Latter-day Saints referring to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and joining families together for eternity, in temples.  Local guest speakers shared experiences, testimonies and musical selections.

One listener, Joanne Tiumalu, shared, "What stayed with me was Sister Chapman's comment that, 'intense prayer produced better results.'"

Graham Smith, president of the Gippsland Stake, said of the devotional, "My great desire is that these saints know in their hearts that the Lord loves them, and hasn't forgotten them; that they have a significant part to play in this divine work, and there is much joy and happiness to be found in it."
