Elder and Sister Haleck Bring Love and Encouragement to People of New Caledonia

Elder O. Vincent Haleck, president of the Pacific Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with his wife, Sister Peggy Haleck, visited members, missionaries and guests of the Church in New Caledonia this week.

Upon their arrival in Noumea on Friday 1 March, they were greeted by President J. Benoit Duquette and Sister Diane Duquette of the Church’s Vanuatu Port Vila Mission—a mission that includes Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.

The visiting leaders attended worship services on Sunday in Toutouta.

Elder and Sister Haleck enjoyed their stay and had the opportunity to mingle with Church members and missionaries, as well as visitors.

“We felt a wonderful spirit among the people of New Caledonia,” Elder Haleck said.

“The Church will provide a refuge from the troubles of the world.  Through learning and living the gospel of Jesus Christ we can receive guidance to overcome the challenges in our lives.”

Elder and Sister Haleck conveyed their love and sympathy to the family who lost their grandmother in a recent car accident, in which four missionaries were also injured.

Elder Haleck thanked the Church members for their compassion shown to those impacted, through their prayers and visits.
