Earthworks Company Earns Waikato Regional Council Award for Work on Church Recreational Facility

Base Civil Limited was recognized this week “for outstanding work controls on earthworks undertaken to establish a campground at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints site at Tuhikaramea Road,” Waikato Regional Council announced today.

The property, close to the Church’s New Zealand Hamilton Temple on the outskirts of Hamilton, is being developed into a recreational facility for youth and families.

The recreational facility will serve local Latter-day Saints, and their guests, as well as people from across New Zealand.

The 16 hectare facility, called Tuhikaramea Recreational Property, will include a section known to locals as “Hamon’s Bush.” It is scheduled to be ready for use later this year.

Project manager for the Church, Adam O’Gram, says the award is “a wonderful recognition for the professional and thoughtful work of Base Civil Limited.”

“The team have been a delight to work with, and we have strived to not only do this in a way that will be good for the many people who will use the facility, but also in a way that is respectful of the environment and our neighbours.”
