Elder Peter F. Meurs and Elder Taniela B. Wakolo of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with hundreds of Tongan youth on the island of Vava’u recently.
They were visiting Tonga with Steven J. Lund, General Young Men’s President for the Church.
Elder Meurs told the youth and young adults, “I have come to know that He [the Saviour] loves you and me…and I know that He wants nothing more than to have us be back with Him.”
Elder Wakolo responded to a question that was asked of an uncommon scenario, but the Saviour responded positively. He referenced the Saviour in John 8:59 where Jews threw stones at Him and as He was running for safety, He identified the blind man (John 9) and once He identified the blind man, His focus was on him, not His safety.
Speaking of the on-going restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the need for a living prophet, President Lund said, “He [President Nelson] is a prophet. He is a seer. His prophecies will inevitably come to pass.”
He added, “The restoration is a mighty force sweeping the earth, and the Tongan youth of the Church will have a significant role in the work as it rolls forward.”
