U.S. Consulate General Auckland and the U.S. Veterans’ Club of New Zealand hosted the annual U.S. Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 30, 2021. The service took place at the World War II Hall of Memories, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Domain.
Gordon Tanner, Pacific Area Legal Counsel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his wife, Julie Tanner, attended the service. On behalf of the Church’s leadership and members, they laid a floral tribute in honour of service men and women who have served their country.
“We were grateful for the invitation from the U.S. Consul General to participate in the service. It was an honour to join the Mayor, and representatives of the New Zealand military in laying a wreath in that special hall in memory of those who have sacrificed their all in defence of our freedoms.” Mr Tanner said.
