Church Leaders to Visit South Pacific

Elder Juan A. Uceda, Brother Douglas D. Holmes and Brother Tad R. Callister will visit Latter-day Saints in five countries

Elder Juan A. Uceda, of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will visit the Pacific Area this month. He will meet with Church leaders, members and missionaries in New Zealand, Tonga and Australia.

    

Also visiting the South Pacific this month are Douglas D. Holmes and Tad R. Callister. Brother Holmes is a member of the Church’s Young Men general presidency. Brother Callister is the Church’s general Sunday School president.

Brother Holmes and Brother Callister will visit Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Australia over the next several days.

Elder Juan A. Uceda was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 3, 2010. He was named a member of the Presidency of the Seventy on April 1, 2017. He served previously as a counselor in the South America Northwest Area Presidency (2010-2013), President of the South America Northwest Area (2013-2016), Assistant Executive Director to the Missionary Department, and Area Assistant to the North America Southeast Area. He currently serves with the North America Southwest Area and assists Elder Neil L. Andersen in supervising the Philippines and Pacific Areas. Read more about Elder Uceda here.

Douglas D. Holmes, 53, was serving as a counselor in a stake presidency when he accepted the call as the first counselor in the Young Men general presidency on April 4, 2015. His Church service includes president of the Michigan Detroit Mission, bishop, ward Young Men president, stake Young Men president’s counselor, Gospel Doctrine teacher, ward mission leader, bishop’s counselor and elders quorum president. Brother Tad R. Callister was sustained a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 5 April 2008, at age 62. At the time of his call, he had been serving as the president of the Canada Toronto East Mission. He served as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy, North America West Area, from 2000 to 2005 and from 2011 to 2014 he served in the Presidency of the Seventy.
