Accompanied by teachers, Ms. Arouea and Mr. Raman, students cleaned the school compound, planted flowers, prepared garden plots, scrubbed the driveway and walkways, painted the play area, and completed minor repairs around the school.
The students also collected items for the Hilton School which were presented by Church College student Joe Vitinavulagi. This included stationery, children's reading books, and a box of toys. The Church College students also sang to the Hilton students.
Church College student, Pauline Karaput, expressed thanks to the Hilton Special School for allowing the students to be of service and spoke on the importance of serving others.
Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said in a recent general conference of the Church: “Giving help to others—making a conscientious effort to care about others as much as or more than we care about ourselves—is our joy. Especially, I might add, when it is not convenient and when it takes us out of our comfort zone. Living that second great commandment is the key to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.”
