Chinese People Love and Honour Mormon Leader for Life-saving Heart Surgeries

On his recent return to China, President Russell M. Nelson, President of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), was greeted warmly by those whose lives have been affected and saved by him.

Because of his great skill as a heart surgeon in the United States, he was invited to be a guest instructor at the Shangdong University of Medicine in China in the 1980s. Later, he was given special permission to return to China to perform open heart surgery on Fang Rongxiang, China's famous opera singer, saving his life. Now there are many in China who call him "friend."
