Bishop W. Christopher Waddell Visits New Zealand

Bishop W. Christopher Waddell, second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is visiting New Zealand this week.

He is travelling with his wife, Carol Waddell, and his colleague David McMillan.

Bishop Waddell spoke to a gathering of Latter-day Saint employees and senior missionary couples on Friday morning, 10 March, at the Church’s Pacific Area Administration Offices in Auckland.

 

“To accomplish what we need to, we need the help of the Lord,” Bishop Waddell said.

“The purpose of what we do goes way beyond just a job.”

He reminded those in attendance they are engaged in a temporal work with a spiritual nature.

On Friday afternoon he visited the Hamilton suburb of Temple View where a number of Church-sponsored construction projects are under way.

Bishop W. Christopher Waddell was called to serve as second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric on October 9, 2015.

Bishop Waddell had served as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since April 2011.

Wayne Christopher Waddell was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 28, 1959. He married Carol Stansel in July 1984. They are the parents of four children and have three grandchildren.

Bishop Waddell received a bachelor’s degree in 1984 from San Diego State University. Beginning in 1984 he worked with Merrill Lynch in several positions, including first vice president of investments.

Bishop Waddell has served in numerous Church callings, including as a full-time missionary in Spain, and is fluent in Spanish.
