"Our documented heritage shapes our lives giving us an understanding of who we are and where we came from," according to a new report quoting Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker published by Archives New Zealand.
The article quotes the Mayor speaking at last week's "launch of a project to digitise more than 1.8 million [pages] Canterbury and Westland probates."
"The Canterbury earthquakes have highlighted the importance and fragility of our documented history," Archives New Zealand reports the Mayor saying to guests at the project launch.
