A group of young women from Adelaide, Australia recently collected items to be sent to Africa through the charity organisation, Days for Girls (DfG).
The teens collected underwear, washers and bars of soap to donate, completing 110 kits.
Susanne Harris, representative from Days for Girls, shared the importance of the service project. Noting that in some countries girls are ostracised for a week every month, DfG is a nonprofit organization that prepares and distributes sustainable menstrual health solutions to girls who would otherwise miss school during their monthly periods.
After the event, several young women commented on how rewarding the project was and expressed greater appreciation for their personal health blessings.
Ella Hann said, “Days for Girls project was an amazing experience as I was able to learn more about girls from other countries and the struggles they have in their everyday lives. I felt like I was doing something important for someone who really needed it and I really felt the spirit of serving others."
