Members of Brigham Young University’s Living Legends are performing in New Zealand cities this week, reaching out as they do so to build new friendships with New Zealanders.
While in Auckland, the Living Legends joined hands of friendship with students from Fale Pasifika of the University of Auckland, sharing their common enthusiasm for the cultures of the South Pacific.
They also spent a morning with students from the Henderson Intermediate School, where 200-plus students formed new friendships, enjoying games, singing together, and watching engaging numbers rendered by the Living Legends.

Residents of Ronald McDonald House received a surprise visit where the Living Legends came up-close and personal through their enjoyable performances and individual time spent with each resident.
Young adults from the Auckland area also enjoyed a devotional at the Church’s Redoubt Road chapel where over 500 people felt the spirit of friendship from the Living Legends through songs and faith-filled messages.
Owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), BYU is an undergraduate and selected-graduate-school university with a student body of over 30,000 students who come from many nations around the world.
The Living Legends is the university’s performing group made up of Latin American, Native American, and Polynesian students who perform various native dances and songs. Their shows feature the native cultural heritage of North and South America and the South Pacific.
They perform a vibrant spectacle of energy, music, costume, and dance. As they take the stage, talented performers of native descent capture the rhythms of Polynesia, portray the fascinating legends of Native American people, and dazzle the senses with the energy of Latin America.
Both the lavish costumes and the intricate choreography are authentic representations of the showcase cultures.
