"Mormon Helping Hands" volunteers joined with hundreds of others last Saturday to clean some of South Auckland's streams, foreshore and parklands.

According to one of the organisers, "Over 1,900 volunteers from across Auckland turned out in force to clean-up 22 sites along 10kms of the Puhinui Stream and foreshore, plus Otara Creek."

Volunteers recovered 6 and ½ tonnes of litter, over 200 shopping trolleys and 300 car tyres.
