International Youth Day, observed on 12 August, is a worldwide celebration recognising that youth can be a positive force for good when provided with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints honours the goodness of youth throughout the world. The faithful and courageous lives of the youth in the South Pacific inspire goodness and uplift those around them.
One recent example is the FSY (For the Strength of Youth) Conference held in Vanuatu, where hundreds of youth gathered to learn values centered on the teachings of Heavenly Father and the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Briedley, a youth from the Solomon Islands, shared about FSY, “I learned this week that if I focus on Christ, my heart will change. He will bless and change us.”

Through music, they inspired the rising generation and lifted others with messages of hope and unity.

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint seminaries throughout the Pacific, youth rise early each morning before school begins to attend a religious study course. This early morning seminary programme helps youth understand and rely on the teachings of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. These efforts help shape their knowledge, attitudes and character.
