On Saturday 16 June, Matthew Krull, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with an Auckland interfaith youth group at the Tzu Chi Group Centre and recycling facility.
The group was given a tour of the Tzu Chi facility that is used as a community gathering place. It is used as a place to discuss community topics, teach English and Chinese and as a general recycling facility. Discussed at the event were issues that are faced in religious communities, such as how to help the rising generation be people of faith and concerns regarding family and marriage.
Future plans were arranged to meet often at other faith venues to discuss matters of concern in the religious community. It will also be used as a time to follow up on progress of previously discussed issues.
A hallmark of Mormonism is a respect for the diverse beliefs and unique contributions of all the world’s faiths. Members accept all sincere believers as equals in the pursuit of faith and in the great work of serving humanity.
