Young Latter-day Saint Women Speak Up

The regional Maori language competition "Nga Manu Korero" was held in Christchurch on 15 July 2011 attracting more than 30 speakers from local high schools to compete in four different categories - Junior and Senior English and Maori speeches.

Anahera Clarkson from the Timaru Branch spoke about how education, role models and her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped her to make good decisions and prepare for the future.

Emma Lafaele was introduced as a young woman who valued the importance of mothers.

Both young women are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and competed in the Junior Maori section.
