People living in the community of Leo Creek, East Honiara, Solomon Islands recently celebrated the installation of a new water tank donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This is the first of thirty 5,000 litre tanks to be installed in Honiara. The poly tanks will catch runoff rainwater to be used by approximately eight families per tank.
“Tonight we have eight very happy families in Honiara,” said David Nish, a senior missionary from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“The first tank was completed yesterday, and then it rained last night—and people say miracles have ceased! After all the celebrations with the families over their water this afternoon, the rain was the ‘cherry on top of the cake.'"
Ultimately there will be close to 2,000 people who will enjoy clean drinking water after these tanks are installed.
