Tonga Prime Minister and Church Leaders to Speak During Special Devotional

Live-streamed meeting will focus on inviting all Tongans everywhere to fast and pray for needed blessings

This Saturday 6 June, Area Seventy, Elder Inoke Kupu, will join with the Tonga Prime Minister, Rev. Dr. Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa, in a national devotional, televised on TV Tonga as well as on a social media live-stream from 5pm.

The national fast and prayer program, organised by the Prime Minister's office, will focus on seeking heaven's blessings in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, illicit drug use, family financial struggles, and children and their education.

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and its members, strive to love God, and our neighbour," said Elder Inoke Kupu.

"We also believe in sustaining and supporting our government, and obeying the law of the land. The motto ‘God and Tonga are my inheritance’ is very meaningful to us.”

He continued: "As we come together to fast, pray, and share the word of God, and our testimonies, we will strengthen each other in the Lord, and pray for the blessings that we need as a nation, and in our homes. As we seek to hear the voice of the Lord in our lives, we will hear Him. As we heed His counsel, He will bless us."

Watch the devotional in the Tongan language on the Tonga Broadcasting Commission Facebook page; and in the English language on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Tonga Facebook page starting at 5pm Saturday evening, local time.
